The Lawyer known as Weinstein
There are any number of things about this job that I hate. The smell of the jail. The family member of my client who talks the client into some horrible decision. Losing trials. But perhaps one of the aspects of this job that I hate more than any other is The Pretender. I have written before about the Criminal Pretender versus the Criminal Defender. But there is another level of The Pretender. I think I'm going to this particular person Weinstein in honor of the character Josh Weinstein from "Entourage".
Attorneys, judges, and unfortunately a lot of defendants know who I'm talking about when I say Weinstein. The reason I call him this is because he is the type of attorney that would do anything to get a client. Back in the day, he even went to the client's home. He makes whatever promise he needs to get the client. After all, it's no problem for him. The problem is the client's when the client realizes he has hired a hack to defend him. I've even known him to steal clients before. So in honor of Weinstein, I offer this YouTube clip. This is how I feel about the Weinsteins of the world, the "lightweight, pen-stealing f**kfaces" of the world.
