I have considered whether to do this all day. I feel that this is the right thing to do considering the circumstances.
Even though I was told this was not necessary (although I hope neither unwanted nor unappreciated), I have to take a moment to apologize to some readers. It was recently brought to my attention that the general tone of several posts has been offensive to some. This has never been my intention with this blog. For that, please allow me to sincerely apologize to those offended.
This blog began as merely something to do in the immense downtime when I first opened this firm. Phone calls were few and far between, and the blog was suggested to me as a means of doing something, anything. It started with briefs of recently released appellate opinions, but that quickly became boring. The focus shifted to the day-to-day happenings in the office.
I suppose gone are the days of only five or six readers on a semi-regular basis. It is clear my audience has grown not only in numbers but also in demographics. Although I never anticipated that, perhaps I should have done so.
Those that know me well know that I possess a rather different sense of humor. I wear bowties for crying out loud. Sarcasm is a constant with me, and while it generally comes across in person, it is sometimes not as obvious in written form. Many of my posts contain this type of humor.
I feel that I have perhaps taken for granted the great situation I find myself in by practicing in Tarrant County. I hope that I have not betrayed a trust with those I deal with on a daily basis. I have dealt with other jurisdictions, both within Texas as well as other states, and I firmly believe Tarrant County to be the best within which to practice.
My intentions with my posts, whether they be serious or in jest, are never to belittle or demean anyone. Well, maybe a liberal Democrat now and then, but certainly not those with which I deal daily. However, as the saying goes, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
The bottom line is this: Some of my posts have offended some people that read this blog. It has been pointed out to me that some posts, whether in tone or content, have been inconsiderate and demeaning to those involved. Although I take care not to name names, for those involved it is clear about whom or what I am writing. I apologize for this.
I never took the time to consider the feelings of those involved. I have simply written what I was thinking at the time, without consideration to anyone else. This blog is more than a daily journal, it is a posting for all to see. I have not taken the requisite care with such an endeavor.
For those that have been offended by anything I have written, please accept this as my sincere apology. Also, let me say thank you for not only reading this blog, but also pointing out the problems with it.
It happens. It takes a big man to apologize.
