Exactly. I just negged a potential client for untrustworthiness.

A rare and absolutely perfect approach to our practice. I tell lawyers all the time, the reason you hate the criminal practice is because you hate your clients and you have no control. I understand when you are young you feel you need to "take everything" and believe that you are "owned" by the client, but in order to have enjoyment in this great field, the criminal defense lawyer has to understand that clients come to THEM for help, not the other way around.

There will always be a great number of criminal defense lawyers who take everything. They drive down the quality of the practice and make the general public feel that we will all take everything.

The last guy who treated me like I was lucky to be negotiating my fee with him (although not on point as an issue of trust) has his file at the reception desk waiting to be picked up.
